The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineering Team Lead to join our team at The Openwork Partnership. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and mentorship to our team of data engineers, helping them design, develop, test, and deploy quality data analytics solutions and services.

This is a pivotal role in supporting our partnership to be truly data-led by equipping them with robust data platforms. You will work closely with our stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technical specifications, designing and implementing data solutions that meet their needs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Providing technical leadership by staying up to date on the latest technologies and trends and using that knowledge to help the team develop innovative and effective solutions
  • Ownership of the technical solutions
  • Mentorship
  • Understanding and translating user requirements into technical specifications
  • Designing and implementing data solutions
  • Writing and testing code
  • Debugging and fixing software defects
  • Maintaining and updating software
  • Working with data engineers, trainers and stakeholders

What will you need to succeed?

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Strong commercial experience of data engineering and a proven track record of developing data solutions at the enterprise level

Knowledge:

  • SQL Server (TSQL)
  • Cloud services (Microsoft Azure preferably)
  • SSIS, SSRS § Data modelling/ Power BI
  • Data Warehouse and Report Layer design
  • Strong SQL/database querying skills
  • Microsoft BI (full stack) expertise (desirable)
  • Azure DevOps Pipelines
  • Azure Synapse experience (desirable)
  • Azure Databricks experience (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Azure portal and Azure services
  • Knowledge of Agile working and Azure DevOps
  • Experience of data testing

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication skills to be effective with both technical and non-technical audiences.
