Job Summary

The Head of Harvesting Support provides strategic oversight and technical support to Regional Delivery teams at Forestry and Land Scotland. This role is responsible for increasing the efficiency of the FLS timber harvesting machinery fleet and working on emerging strategic initiatives, including the creation of a harvesting data repository and associated analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that relevant service contracts are in place and that harvesting activities meet the requirements of FSC and PEFC certification.
  • Provide advice and support to staff regarding service contracts, timber sales contracts, and timber harvesting operations.
  • Work with the FLS National Marketing and Sales Team to support the harvesting, marketing, and sales of timber.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of timber harvesting operations.

Requirements

  • Experience in timber harvesting, associated timber sales, procurement, and contract management.
  • Pre-felling timber crop surveys experience.
  • Strong understanding of FSC and PEFC certification standards.
