SEND Funding & Specialist Places Client Lead

A 12-month contract in a hybrid Southwest England setting, offering £550 per day umbrella rate.

This role is ideal for those passionate about making a real impact in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision. You will work with schools and multi-academy trusts to create new SEND placements, streamline funding processes, and improve the overall financial governance of SEND provisions. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Oversee and improve SEND funding processes
  2. Develop new SEND places in collaboration with schools/MATs
  3. Negotiate and manage funding agreements and delivery timelines
  4. Identify and address weaknesses in financial management systems
  5. Ensure SEND placements meet quality and regulatory standards
  6. Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, parents, and internal teams
  7. Lead projects to deliver non-capital aspects of school place planning

Key Person Requirements:
  1. Proven experience in leading SEND funding changes and financial system improvements
  2. Strong knowledge of SEND statutory responsibilities and school place planning
  3. Expertise in negotiating and delivering SEND school places with schools/MATs
  4. Senior leadership experience in a local authority or similar setting
  5. Skilled in managing complex educational capital programmes
  6. Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  7. Strong relationship-building abilities across diverse stakeholders
