About This Role

This position requires a Marine Ecologist and Consenting Specialist to support and input to our growing portfolio of high-profile marine projects. The successful candidate will have comprehensive marine ecological expertise and be able to provide technical advice and application of advanced scientific practices, theories, and technologies for a diverse range of marine projects.

This role involves managing inputs to a wide range of workstreams and deliverables across a broad range of projects including involvement in the full EIA or DCO development cycle of major projects.

Main Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical marine ecological and marine consenting advice, internally and externally.
  • Project Management: Make effective use of project management skills, appropriately managing resources and budgets (with support as applicable).
  • Mentoring: Help develop and train more junior members of the team.

The ideal candidate will have a recognised degree in a relevant discipline such as marine biology/ecology or a related biological or science discipline and ideally an appropriate professional membership (CIEEM or similar).

Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in the preparation and review of specialist technical chapters and all associated impact assessments, including but not limited to HRA, MCZ, and WFD.
  • Detailed understanding of the marine consenting and licensing regimes across the UK with experience liaising with, and submitting licence applications, to key regulatory bodies including the MMO, NRW, Scottish MD, and The Crown Estate.
  • Ability to work closely with clients and provide bespoke advice that helps clients successfully deliver their goals.

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
