Emergency Medicine Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Emergency Medicine Consultant to join our team at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a medical professional to work in a designated trauma unit and contribute to the design of a brand-new Emergency Centre.
Main Duties of the Job- Provide first-class clinical care in Emergency Medicine, working with other members of the Emergency Medicine Team to see patients personally and provide clinical leadership, supervision, and teaching of junior medical and nursing staff.
- Take an appropriate share in the management and administrative workload of the Department, participating in planning and developing the service.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities.
- Participate in the on-call rota on an equal basis with consultant colleagues to ensure that appropriate Emergency services are provided out of normal working hours.
- Take an appropriate share of responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within the specialty, to include appraisal.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. Our main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) in Shrewsbury, which are located 20 minutes' drive apart.
Detailed Job Description and Main ResponsibilitiesA formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, on behalf of the Medical Director within 3 months of starting in post. A full-time job plan is based on a 10 PA working week, which will be reviewed annually and is a prospective agreement that sets out the consultant's duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year.
