Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Immunisation Nurse to join our School Age Vaccination Service (SAV) team in Lambeth & Southwark. As a member of our fantastic Immunisations team, you will support the safe delivery and triage of nasal flu and other vaccination programmes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess young people and understand the pre-requisites of giving an immunisation, including understanding the contra-indications, aftercare, and relevant advice to give to the young person.
  • Contribute to the identification and protection of children at risk of abuse and act in accordance with the local Safeguarding Childrens Board guidelines.
  • Ensure that all statutory & mandatory training is kept up to date, including CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Immunisation training.
  • Maintain the necessary communication and liaison with all members of other nursing disciplines and allied professions.
  • Provide support, mentorship, guidance, and supervision to junior and non-qualified staff members of the School Nursing service.
  • Maintain own personal safety and that of others by taking reasonable care, carrying out the requirements of the law, and following recognised codes of practice.

Job Responsibilities

Key Tasks
  • Administer vaccines according to the national immunisation schedule.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of immunisations given.
  • Provide education and information to patients and families about immunisation, including potential side effects and the importance of vaccines.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions following immunisation.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, pharmacists, and social workers.
  • Participate in public health initiatives and campaigns to promote immunisation.
