About the Role

Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Immunisation Nurse to join their team. As a member of the School Age Vaccination Service, you will play a crucial role in supporting the safe delivery and triage of nasal flu and other vaccination programmes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess young people and understand the pre-requisites of giving an immunisation, including understanding contra-indications, aftercare, and relevant advice to provide to the young person.
  • Contribute to the identification and protection of children at risk of abuse, adhering to local Safeguarding Children's Board guidelines.
  • Maintain up-to-date statutory and mandatory training, including CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Immunisation training.
  • Ensure effective communication and liaison with nursing disciplines and allied professions.
  • Provide support, mentorship, guidance, and supervision to junior and non-qualified staff members of the School Nursing service.
  • Maintain personal safety and that of others by taking reasonable care, adhering to recognised codes of practice, and following Trust policies on Health and Safety.

The Trust employs around 1,300 people, working across various health centres, hospitals, GP surgeries, children's centres, local council facilities, and community settings.

Job Requirements
  • Administer vaccines according to the national immunisation schedule.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of immunisations given.
  • Provide education and information to patients and families about immunisation, including potential side effects and the importance of vaccines.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions following immunisation.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, pharmacists, and social workers.
  • Participate in public health initiatives and campaigns to promote immunisation.
  • Experience in immunisation and vaccination is preferred.
  • Knowledge of current immunisation schedules, vaccines, and contraindications to vaccination.
Working Conditions
  • The role may involve travel to different locations to provide immunisation clinics in schools, community centres, and other settings.
