Job Title: Immunisation Nurse

Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Immunisation Nurse to join their team as a member of the School Age Vaccination Service (SAV) for Croydon. The successful candidate will support the safe delivery and triage of the nasal flu and other vaccination programmes within the SAV teams.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assess young people and understand the pre-requisites of giving an immunisation, including understanding the contra-indications, aftercare, and relevant advice to give to the young person.
  • Contribute to the identification and protection of children at risk of abuse and act in accordance with the local Safeguarding Children's Board guidelines.
  • Ensure that all statutory and mandatory training is kept up to date, including CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Immunisation training.
  • Maintain effective communication and liaison with other nursing disciplines and allied professions.
  • Provide support, mentorship, guidance, and supervision to junior and non-qualified staff members of the School Nursing service.
  • Maintain personal safety and that of others by taking reasonable care, carrying out the requirements of the law, and following recognised codes of practice.
Job Requirements:
  • Administer vaccines according to the national immunisation schedule.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of immunisations given.
  • Provide education and information to patients and families about immunisation, including potential side effects and the importance of vaccines.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions following immunisation.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, pharmacists, and social workers.
  • Participate in public health initiatives and campaigns to promote immunisation.
Working Conditions:
  • The role may involve travel to different locations to provide immunisation clinics in schools, community centres, and other settings.

  • Experience of working in the NHS and within the community or working with children and young people.
