About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team and lead our environmental agenda. As a trusted advocate, you will provide visible leadership, specialist advice, coaching, and engagement to support our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, improve, and develop environmental management systems processes and procedures to ensure compliance and promote continuous improvement.
- Liaise with external parties and regulators, such as environmental agencies, to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
- Oversee all environmental data, ensuring it meets internal and external reporting requirements.
- Develop meaningful strategies to promote a positive step change in all aspects of environmental management and behaviors.
- Support our net zero ambition for our business and customers.
- Provide specialist advice on all business environmental aspects and impacts, including waste, water management, permits, and licenses.
- Lead on our 14001 accreditation and support internal and external audits.
- Assist in significant environmental incident investigations and benchmark externally to identify areas of best practice and continual improvement.
Requirements
- National Grid/Cadent/SGN experience is desirable.
- Exceptional knowledge of environmental legislation and applied controls is essential.
- Experience in providing environmental advice in both office and field workforce environments is required.
- The ability to demonstrate experience in designing, building, and improving environmental management systems in line with 14001 is necessary.
- Excellent stakeholder management attributes, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, are essential.
- Courage and confidence to challenge issues and behaviors are required.
- The ability to convey complex information in a simple, effective, and plain language is necessary.
- Attention to detail, with the ability to work to strict timely deadlines, is essential.
