Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Medical Secretary to join our Specialist Rehabilitation Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive and high-quality medical secretarial service to support the clinical teams, including Consultants, junior medical staff, specialist nursing staff, and Allied Health Professionals.

Main Duties of the Job

The Medical Secretary will be responsible for typing using the EPRO digital dictation system (audio typing), ensuring typing standards of 5-day turnaround are met, and proofreading clinical correspondence relating to outpatient attendances and other patient-related correspondence on behalf of the consultant and clinical teams.

Person Specification

  • Audio typing/Word Processing Skills RSA II or equivalent experience
  • GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent AMSPAR Level 2) in English and Maths
  • Organisational skills and time management
  • Secretarial experience
  • Using Microsoft office packages including word, excel, and PowerPoint
  • Prioritising and managing workload to meet deadlines
  • A broad understanding of medical terminology and its use within clinical correspondence
  • Understanding of customer care principles
  • Knowledge and application of the Data Protection Act in relation to patient confidentiality and the appropriate care of patient information
