Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Pathology Support Specialist. This role will involve working closely with the Mortuary Manager to provide technical support in delivering a high-quality mortuary service.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. They will also be required to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology within a reasonable timeframe set by the manager.

The estimated salary for this role is around £28,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • To work between all mortuaries in the network as requested by senior staff.
  • To carry out routine work in all sections of the Mortuary as required by the mortuary manager and the senior mortuary technologists.
  • To assist the Consultant Pathologists in Post Mortem work, including preparation of the deceased, examination of the deceased, re-construction of the deceased, and disinfection of the post-mortem room facilities.
Requirements
  • A full driving licence with access to a private motor vehicle to travel between sites and participate in the on-call service.
  • Experience of working with hazard/unpleasant substances.
  • Familiarity with current mortuary practices and legal requirements of the service.
