Head Runner Job Description

Bacchanalia, a renowned culinary destination in Mayfair, is seeking a highly organized and proactive Head Runner to oversee the smooth operation of our dining room. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for managing the flow of service, supporting the waitstaff and kitchen team to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of food runners, coordinating their tasks to ensure efficient delivery of food and drinks to guests.
  • Oversee the setup and organization of the dining room, ensuring all tables are prepared to our high standards before service begins.
  • Assist in running food and drinks to tables, ensuring proper presentation and that dishes reach guests at the correct temperature.
  • Monitor the flow of service, identifying any potential issues and addressing them promptly to maintain smooth operations.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise new runners, ensuring they understand their roles and are equipped to provide excellent service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the service areas, ensuring all supplies are well-stocked and readily available.
  • Communicate any guest feedback or special requests to the appropriate team members to enhance the overall dining experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Runner, Food Runner, or in a similar support role within a busy restaurant or hospitality setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate between the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure, ensuring efficient service during busy periods.
  • A keen eye for detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of service and presentation.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to be on your feet for extended periods, as well as the ability to carry and balance multiple dishes.
  • A positive attitude, team player mentality, and a passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by our restaurant's schedule.
