Job Title: Residential Childcare Support Worker - Night Shift

Location: Greater London

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £27,431.04 - £28,959.84 per annum

Hours: 20:00pm - 8:00am (12 hour shifts)

About the Role:

We are seeking a qualified Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our team at Polaris Community. As a Night Shift Support Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of each child during the night shift. This includes providing empathy and compassion, engaging in activities with the children, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and welfare of each child during the night shift
  • Provide empathy and compassion to children during the night time
  • Engage in activities with the children
  • Maintain accurate records using a computer
  • Report a child as missing and follow the Philomena procedure
  • Communicate effectively with out-of-hours services
  • Answer phone calls professionally and respond to requests and questions

Requirements:

  • Must be able to work as part of a team and bring energy and enthusiasm to the role
  • Experience and knowledge of safeguarding children
  • Ability to follow delegated tasks and record detailed handovers
  • Ability to maintain Polaris Community's policies and procedures
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to engage and listen to children and take action where needed
  • Organisation and planning skills

  • Minimum average of 168 hours per calendar month
  • 236 hours annual leave per annum (including bank holidays)
  • Holiday increase per year - 12 extra hours for 3 years (capped at 272 hours)
  • Pension scheme after a qualifying period
  • Enrolment and funding to required qualification if not already held
