Job Description

York St John University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Research Office as a Research Support Specialist.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive support to academic staff in the university, working closely with the Research Officers for Grants and the Finance Team. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the university's research plan and the attainment of research objectives embedded in the University's 2026 strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support for post award research grants from charities, research councils, and external bodies.
  • Prepare reporting back to funders on the financial expenditure of grants.
  • Develop, enhance, and document complex administrative systems and procedures.
  • Provide advice and guidance to academic and administrative colleagues at all levels in a university or organisation of similar scale and complexity.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a passion for research and a comprehensive experience of working with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel. They will also have experience in providing advice and guidance to academic and administrative colleagues at all levels in a university or organisation of similar scale and complexity.
