About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join our Children and Families team in Torfaen County Borough Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality support to children and families, working closely with other agencies and professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake statutory duties in respect of children in need, child protection, and looked-after children.
  • Formulate and implement care plans based on sound assessments.
  • Contribute to inter-agency working and collaborate with other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
  • Manage a caseload of lower-level support and cases where children or young people are in need of care and support, looked-after children, or in the court arena.
  • Deliver relevant interventions to safeguard children and ensure their needs are met, aiming to effect long-term positive change to improve the life experiences of vulnerable children and young people.

Requirements
  • Social Work qualification.
  • Registration with the Care Council for Wales.
  • Ability to travel throughout the borough and long distances in a timely manner.
  • Experience of formulating and implementing care plans based on sound assessments.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm in relation to achieving positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
Desirable
  • Previous experience of working with children with disabilities.
