About the Position

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Supportive Education Assistant to join our team at a vibrant primary school in Burnley. This full-time, term-time-only position offers a unique opportunity to support our Year 6 pupils in achieving their best during this crucial stage in their education.

In this role, you will work closely with the class teacher to deliver targeted support in both group and individual settings. Your responsibilities will include assisting with lesson preparation, providing one-on-one and small group assistance to students, and supporting pupils with their learning tasks, particularly in core subjects like English and Mathematics.

You will also help prepare pupils for their end-of-year assessments (SATs), working on targeted revision and practice sessions. Additionally, you will foster a positive, encouraging learning environment that motivates students to reach their full potential.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons to Year 6 pupils.
  • Providing one-on-one and small group assistance to students, particularly in core subjects like English and Mathematics.
  • Helping to prepare pupils for their end-of-year assessments (SATs), working on targeted revision and practice sessions.
  • Fostering a positive, encouraging learning environment that motivates students to reach their full potential.
  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, feeding back to the class teacher and contributing to the planning of future lessons.
  • Assisting in classroom management and ensuring all students are engaged and on-task.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children and supporting their development, particularly during the pivotal Year 6 stage. You should have strong communication skills, patience, and a commitment to helping students succeed academically and personally.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with primary school-aged children, ideally in a Year 6 setting.
  • A good understanding of the Year 6 curriculum and SATs preparation.
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the class teacher and support team.

Salary Information: The estimated salary for this role is £18,000 - £22,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ's on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
