Procurement Specialist

Littelfuse is a leading global manufacturer of electronic components, serving over 100,000 end customers across various industries. We are currently seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our team in Chicago, Illinois.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of Assembly components and/or Buy/Resell products, meeting company targets and parameters. This role will involve working closely with our Design and Engineering teams to manage new component quotations from suppliers, as well as collaborating with our Procurement Professional to maximize new supplier development and cost reduction activities.
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of purchasing experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of MRP and ERP systems. They will also possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as fluency in English.

About the position:
- Interpret demand messages from our MRP and prepare and issue purchase orders by company policy.
- Work with our Design and Engineering teams to manage new component quotations from suppliers to enable accurate quotations to customers.
- Work closely with our Procurement Professional to maximize new supplier development and cost reduction activities.
- Work alongside our Trade Compliance Team to ensure accurate information is loaded into the system.
- Manage supplier order books ensuring the highest level of on-time delivery achieved.
- Negotiate Terms and Conditions with suppliers within the company guidelines.
- Develop good working relationships with suppliers to resolve issues in an efficient and timely manner and to actively seek improved service levels – cost, payment terms, lead times etc.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to reduce inventory levels.
- Work closely with Customer Service / Planning to ensure deadlines are achieved.
About you:
- 3+ years of purchasing experience in a similar role.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings.
- A willingness to question processes and look for improvements.
- An understanding of MRP and ERP systems.
- Competent in standard MS packages (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent communication & negotiation skills.
- Understanding of Incoterms, Commodity codes, Country of Origin, and import duty.
- Ability to read Technical Drawings
- Fluency in English
