About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Student Support Assistant to join our Supported Learning Department. As a Student Support Assistant, you will provide support for individual students or groups of students with additional support needs, enabling them to learn effectively in the classroom and beyond.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one support to students with additional needs
  • Assisting with the planning of activities and lessons
  • Supervising students outside of lesson times
  • Developing strategies to overcome barriers to learning

You will be working in a student-led role, managing student timetables and following up on absences. Experience of developing an understanding of barriers to learning and strategies to overcome them will be beneficial in this role.

We are looking for someone who is able to work independently with minimal supervision, has excellent communication skills, and is able to build positive relationships with students and staff.

Our client is a successful and vibrant college of further and higher education, supporting school leavers and adults looking to update their skills. They have specialized centres to support students with SEND and challenging behaviours, and state-of-the-art facilities across two campuses.

Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must have/be:

  • Able to provide two professional references that cover the last two years of employment
  • Hold a current DBS certificate that is registered with the Update Service or be willing to complete one
