About the Role:

The Process Operator will be responsible for operating process plant safely and efficiently, maximizing yield performance, and producing a quality finished product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate process plant according to written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Operate a complex recipe-driven Distributed Control System (DCS)
  • Monitor multiple stages of manufacture via the DCS
  • Perform shunting activities
  • Couple and decouple ISO tanks
  • Conduct basic product analysis
  • Identify and perform basic maintenance tasks
  • Demonstrate good principles of starting and stopping pumps, opening and closing valves, etc.
  • Provide attention to detail when handling hazardous chemicals
  • Specify control measures to reduce risk
  • Conduct analysis using wet chemistry techniques
  • Set up process equipment for safe maintenance
  • Participate in the Site Journey to Zero Harm initiative
  • Responsible signatory for allowing maintenance work on the plant
  • Maintain area housekeeping
  • Accurately record data and compile shift reports
  • Input data for safe and productive process operation
  • Create a quality Permit to Work to ensure hazards are documented and control measures are in place
  • Demonstrate high standards of plant cleanliness
  • Conduct in-process testing
  • Make decisions during manufacturing to ensure product quality meets specifications
  • Understand priorities for each product to meet production targets
  • Understand basic chemistry of the manufacturing process
  • Recognize potential problems before they occur
  • Apply troubleshooting techniques for early resolution of problems

Requirements:

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Process Plant Operations
  • Fork Lift Truck License holder
  • Understanding of principles of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (CoSHH) relevant to plant operation
  • Excellent attention to detail, with good written and oral skills
  • Ability to undertake Shunting training to gain license
