Our client, a niche manufacturing operation based in the north of Sheffield, is seeking an experienced and qualified accountant to join their business on an initial 3-6 month interim basis. There is strong potential for a permanent appointment.

The role will report directly to the Senior leadership team and be responsible for managing the complete accounting operations, including general ledger management, cost accounting, inventory and stock control, overseeing AP and AR function, payroll, VAT Compliance, and management of the finance team. You will also play a key role in delivering financial reporting and analysis to the board.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions
  2. Develop and implement effective cost accounting systems to monitor and control costs
  3. Oversee inventory and stock control processes to ensure efficient use of resources
  4. Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring prompt payment and collection of invoices
  5. Process payroll and manage employee benefits
  6. Ensure compliance with VAT regulations
  7. Lead and manage the finance team, providing guidance and support as needed
  8. Prepare and present financial reports to the board, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, preferably with experience in managing general ledgers and preparing financial reports
  • Excellent people skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team
  • A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances

You must be eligible to work in the UK full-time without restriction. A competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, is offered for this exciting opportunity.
