Year 5 Teaching Assistant

Zest Education Ltd is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join their team at a school in Quinton. The successful candidate will work part-time (3 days a week) within a Year 5 Class, providing support to both students and teachers.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a joyful and inclusive school environment, where staff and students are valued and respected. The school provides a captivating curriculum that stimulates and motivates children, preparing them for further education.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience working with children, either in an educational setting or in a care-based environment. They will possess excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate effectively, and have a genuine desire to help children achieve their educational aspirations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working under the direction of the teacher to assist with lesson planning, preparation, and participation in training.
- Providing support to students, including those with special needs, and building positive relationships with them.
- Motivating students to participate in group activities and teacher-led projects.
- Encouraging independence and self-worth while setting high standards.
- Providing regular feedback to the teacher and maintaining a focused, organised, and encouraging atmosphere in compliance with lesson plans.
- Encouraging students to behave well.
Requirements include:
- Relevant experience working with children.
- Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
- Comprehension of good teaching techniques.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Genuine desire to help children achieve their educational aspirations.
Zest Education Ltd is an REC audited agency dedicated to safeguarding children. All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS, be registered to the DBS Update Service, and provide references covering the last two years. Successful candidates will also need to pass necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum requirements for this position include recent school-based experience or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
