About the Role

This is a key position working as part of our award-winning Conservation Education and Engagement team, delivering our on-site, outreach, and virtual program of workshops for schools, colleges, and universities; assisting with the development of activities, workshops, and high-quality learning resources to support our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside our Conservation Education Officers to deliver Chester Zoo's program of activities for schools, colleges, and universities
  • Deliver workshops in-zoo, virtually, and as outreach
  • Contribute to research to maximize conservation impact, achieve learning goals, and improve visitor/audience experience
  • Manage resources and support administrative tasks
  • Support and work with volunteers
Package
  • Temporary fixed-term contract on a term-time only basis
  • Working hours 35 hours per week (term time only), 9am-5pm with a 60-minute (unpaid) lunch break
  • Salary £21,752.97 per annum based on 35 hours per week (this will be pro-rata'd to term-time only hours for the period of employment)

Requirements
  • A good knowledge and ongoing interest in zoo-based conservation and the natural world
  • Outstanding communication skills, particularly verbal and written communication
  • Experience of delivering engaging workshops to a variety of audiences, including school-aged children
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills
  • Experience of working with volunteers
  • A full driving license valid in the UK is essential
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience of delivering engaging workshops to groups with additional learning needs
  • A sound and up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum and safeguarding legislation and policies
