Workforce Adviser

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Operational Workforce Team, where you will play a key role in providing generalist operational workforce advice to managers and staff, ensuring services are supported in accordance with operational objectives.

Main Duties of the Job

You will take an active role in working with managers across all services to proactively manage sickness absence, supporting the Workforce Team with disciplinary, Respect and Resolution, and other investigations, cases, and hearings.

Additionally, you will advise on employment contracts, entitlements, and national and local NHS terms and conditions, developing expertise in employment law and HR best practice.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and its bordering counties.

We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private, and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through four main hospitals, seven community hospitals, numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services, and highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential

• Willingness to study for or be part-qualified CIPD.
• Relevant Degree.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Up-to-date knowledge of employment law.
• Demonstrable IT skills.

Desirable

• HPMA member.
• Broad understanding of the NHS Modernisation Agenda, including Agenda for Change.

Experience

Essential

• Generalist HR experience.
• Disciplinary issues.
• Policy development & implementation.
• Evidence of achieving results.
• Sickness absence management experience.

Desirable

• NHS Experience.
• Job Evaluation.
• Experience of managing organisational change & advising on staff consultation.
• Working in partnership with TU's in a Unionised environment.

Other

Essential

• Flexible approach to the needs of the service.
• Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner.

Desirable
