We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Youth Development Specialist to join our residential team in Exeter. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 8-16 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

Our residential children's home provides a safe and nurturing environment where young people can develop socially, emotionally, and behaviourally. We are committed to empowering our residents to take ownership of their lives and reach their full potential.

Salary: £33,920 - £36,320 per annum (inclusive of sleeps)

Location: Exeter (EX4 postcode)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week plus 2 sleeps

Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts, including nights and weekends

As a Youth Development Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leading by example and supporting the management team to maintain a safe and healthy living environment
  • Mentoring and guiding younger staff members to ensure they receive the necessary support and guidance
  • Encouraging residents to participate in activities that promote social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working with vulnerable youth, preferably in a residential setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
