Job Summary

An exciting opportunity is available for a healthcare professional with a strong track record of teaching and learning in the field of nursing to join Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as a Senior Clinical Lecturer.

The post holder will work closely with the Programme Lead to deliver the Enhanced Clinical Practice Apprenticeship Programme, ensuring the trust is the best place to work and train.

Key responsibilities include developing and delivering learning and teaching related to evidence-based nursing and research theory, leadership and management.

Main Duties

To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership, engaging, enabling and empowering others, using coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement.

Develop learning and teaching related to student experience, leadership and learning & teaching excellence.

The post holder will work with the Programme Lead to manage the delivery, development, and provision of the Enhanced Clinical Practice apprenticeship programme.

Job Responsibilities

Effectively undertake a lead role in learning & teaching of academic and clinical programmes delivered at the Northumbria Health and Care Academy.

Enhance the reputation of the Northumbria Health and Care Academy and University of Sunderland as a centre of excellence by engaging with teaching, reach-out and research programmes in nursing and health related topics.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential:

  • 1st Level Registered Nurse with effective NMC registration/ Allied health professional with effective HPCP registration /1st Level Registered Midwife with effective NMC registration
  • Educated to degree level in Nursing or a related subject.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a related subject area (Masters study)
  • Higher Education teaching qualification (PGCE)

Desirable

  • Higher Education Academy Fellowship status
  • Professional Nursing Advocate
  • Coaching and mentoring qualification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience of teaching and learning in the field of nursing
  • Proven experience of working with NMC approved programmes in academic and/or practice setting
  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop curriculum.

Desirable

  • Experience of module leadership within a Higher Education Institution desirable
  • Delivering teaching and learning in a related subject area within a Higher Education Institution.
