Job Summary

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced healthcare professional to join the Northumbria Health & Care Academy team as a Senior Clinical Lecturer. The post holder will work with the Programme Lead to deliver the Enhanced Clinical Practice Apprenticeship Programme, ensuring the trust is the best place to work and train by educating our current and future workforce.

The post holder will work with the Programme Lead to manage the delivery, development, and provision of the Enhanced Clinical Practice apprenticeship programme. Delivering on modules including clinical skills, enhanced management and leadership working alongside counterparts at the University of Sunderland. They will also develop learning and teaching related to evidence-based nursing and research theory, leadership and management.

Main Duties of the Job

To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams/departments and across organisational boundaries.

You will develop the role in relation to student experience, leadership and learning & teaching excellence but also contribute towards the future Research Excellence Framework and Teaching Excellence Framework.

About Us

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. Leading in innovation and quality - opening a state of the art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. The Enhanced Clinical Practice Programme will be delivered from the Health and Care Academy at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington, a brand new space dedicated to the training and education of the nursing, midwifery and allied health professional workforce.

Job Responsibilities

Effectively undertake a lead role in learning & teaching of academic and clinical programmes delivered at the Northumbria Health and Care Academy.

To enhance the reputation of the Northumbria Health and Care Academy and University of Sunderland as a centre of excellence by engaging with teaching, reach-out and research programmes in nursing and health related topics.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1st Level Registered Nurse with effective NMC registration/ Allied health professional with effective HPCP registration /1st Level Registered Midwife with effective NMC registration
  • o Educated to degree level in Nursing or a related subject.
  • o Postgraduate qualification in a related subject area (Masters study)
  • o Higher Education teaching qualification ( PGCE)

Desirable

  • Higher Education Academy Fellowship status
  • Professional Nursing Advocate
  • Coaching and mentoring qualification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of teaching and learning in the field of nursing
  • Proven experience of working with NMC approved programmes in academic and/or practice setting
  • Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop curriculum.

Desirable

  • Experience of module leadership within a Higher Education Institution desirable
  • Delivering teaching and learning in a related subject area within a Higher Education Institution.
