Academic Publishing Assistant

Cambridge University Press & Assessment is a leading publisher in the Higher Education sector, and we are currently seeking an experienced Academic Publishing Assistant to join our team. Based in Cambridge, this role offers a unique opportunity for someone who wishes to embark upon a career in academic publishing.
The successful candidate will provide administrative support to our Development Editors, including manuscript assistance, budget checks, and compliance-checking procedures for new freelancers. Additionally, they will provide SAP support to the Development Editors and IOC Assistants, checking vendor accounts, creating new vendors, and raising purchase requisitions.
We offer a competitive salary of £28,000 per annum, plus benefits including 28 days annual leave, private medical insurance, and a group personal pension scheme. As a hybrid-working organisation, we offer flexible working options from day one, with most colleagues spending 40-60% of their time at their dedicated office or location.
As an Academic Publishing Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work on various projects, collaborating with a team of friendly and collaborative Development Editors in Cambridge and New York. To succeed in this role, you should be educated to degree level or equivalent, with an interest in pursuing Higher Education textbook publishing. Excellent communication skills, both in speaking and writing, are essential, as well as good IT skills, especially proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
