About the Role

As a Director of Public Sector Consulting at KPMG, you will be part of the leadership team for our local government consulting practice. Aligned to our growth strategy and connected to our national and global practice, you will take ownership for building our client relationships, presence, pipeline, and revenue within a specific region and/or proposition area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Win and lead client delivery engagements that are commercially viable
  • Identify options and solutions to address complex client issues and challenges
  • Develop and sustain client relationships by demonstrating insight and understanding of the challenges facing clients, at a personal, organisational, and system level
  • Lead and develop insightful proposals and propositions that demonstrate and contribute to KPMG's market-leading position
  • Lead our teams day-to-day to produce compelling analysis, presentations, reports, and other deliverables that are well-drafted and concise, whilst also addressing complex, politically sensitive issues
  • Design, plan, facilitate, and lead events, workshops, and interactive sessions to support our clients
  • Proactively maintain project oversight, including financial and project risk management
  • Develop networks across KPMG to bring additional expertise and value to our clients
Requirements
  • Significant experience of originating and delivering high-value professional services in local government
  • Access to a broad, relevant network of local government leadership and delivery stakeholders who see you as a trusted advisor
  • Experience of leading programmes and large-scale projects, especially those with a digital and technology component
  • A good understanding of the government policy agenda and demonstrate a strong desire to support clients in these areas
  • The credibility and experience to lead KPMG and client teams to assess, design, plan, and deliver complex programmes of work
  • Experience of managing and balancing political, reputational, and commercial risk
  • An understanding of the evolving nature of government service delivery and how KPMG's services can support that evolution
  • Significant people leadership and performance management experience skills, including experience of coaching or managing a wide range of staff
  • Experience of and comfortable presenting findings and analysis to board-level clients, elected members, and governing bodies
