Job Title: Chartered Structural Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Chartered Structural Engineer to join our team at Hays Specialist Recruitment. As a Chartered Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating the structural design of building structures from inception to completion.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Design of structures in reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber, and masonry.
  • Conceptual design, involving choice of appropriate materials and method of analysis.
  • Supervision and management of a team of engineers and technicians in detailed design, to set time budgets.
  • Preparation of project specifications, involving use of both standard specifications prepared by external agencies and in-house specifications.
  • Monitoring construction.
  • Inspection and reporting on structural defects in buildings.
  • Operation of procedures in accordance with the firm's quality system.
  • Prepare the designer's input for the Health & Safety plan for projects and issue it to the Planning Supervisor.
Requirements:
  • 5 years of post-graduation experience, including 3 years of design office experience in building structures and site experience as Resident Engineer or with a contractor.
  • Knowledge of the JCT Form of contract and Quality Assurance systems and quality management is essential.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite - Excel and Word and have an awareness of recent developments in engineering design and research.
