About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Chartered Structural Engineer to join our client's team in Belfast. As a key member of the design team, you will be responsible for coordinating the structural design of building structures from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design of structures in reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber, and masonry
  • Conceptual design, involving choice of appropriate materials and method of analysis
  • Supervision and management of a team of engineers and technicians in detailed design
  • Preparation of project specifications, involving use of both standard specifications prepared by external agencies and in-house specifications
  • Monitoring construction and inspection of structural defects in buildings
  • Operation of procedures in accordance with the firm's quality system
  • Preparation of the designer's input for the Health & Safety plan for projects
Requirements
  • Chartered Structural Engineer with membership in either the Institution of Civil Engineers or the Institution of Structural Engineers
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-graduation experience, including 3 years of design office experience in building structures and site experience as Resident Engineer or with a contractor
  • Knowledge of the JCT Form of contract and Quality Assurance systems and quality management
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary design teams and implementing Safety Plans in accordance with CDM Regulations
