Software Developer - Hybrid

The Platform Products division at SAS is seeking a skilled Software Developer to collaborate with a talented team of engineers in building and delivering cutting-edge, innovative products that enable the creation of scalable solutions for customers. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on how customers experience and interact with our software, while ensuring the quality of our products exceeds their expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions using modern programming techniques and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, product, operations, and support, to ensure high-quality software delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and maintaining coding standards across the team.
  • Ensure the security, performance, and scalability of software applications throughout the development and deployment process.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve development practices and product quality.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • Server Development Expertise: experience in developing enterprise applications using Java or other object-oriented languages, with a focus on best practices, design patterns, and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrable Proficiency in Java: solid experience in developing applications using Java with a good understanding of language features and best practices for code quality and maintainability.
  • Familiarity with Spring and REST: demonstrated proficiency in developing robust applications using the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, and implementing RESTful services that adhere to industry standards for scalability, security, and performance.
  • Database and SQL Proficiency: strong understanding of relational databases and proficiency in SQL with a focus on performance and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of current software trends and emerging technologies: to evaluate their impact on development practices and apply relevant innovations to enhance our software development practices with an ability to self-learn.
  • Experience conducting code reviews: providing clear feedback to improve code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
  • Project management tools: experience in using project management tools like Jira for task tracking, sprint planning, and collaboration.
  • Experience in performance testing: proven track record in designing, executing, and analyzing performance tests to ensure system scalability, reliability, and responsiveness under varying loads.
  • Familiarity with performance testing tools and methodologies to identify bottlenecks and optimize application performance.
  • Generative AI: understanding of the current state of LLMs, Generative AI, and their usage.
