Job Overview:

Leonardo is seeking talented and proactive Senior/Principal Microwave Engineers to join our team. As a Senior/Principal Microwave Engineer, you will work with a team of experts to deliver innovative Microwave designs that meet our challenging customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop Microwave circuits and systems using Keysight ADS, Microwave Office, CST Microwave Studio, Ansoft HFSS, or Siemens EDA Mentor.
  • Derive and report against design requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement design solutions.
  • Conduct RF test methods and equipment, including Network Analysers, Spectrum Analysers, and RF Sources.
  • Debug failing hardware or test equipment, and provide technical support to colleagues.
  • Interface with customers, sub-contractors, or in-company stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Assist early careers engineers in their professional development.

Requirements:

  • Experience in the defence industry, with a strong understanding of RF and Microwave design principles.
  • Hold an HNC/HND or Undergraduate Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Applied Physics, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in RF Synthesisers, using DDS or PLL technologies, and RF conditioning chains, e.g. Frequency Converters.
  • Design experience in passive microwave structures, such as Filters, and High Power Amplifiers.
  • Low phase noise design and measurement, and RF Chain Analysis.
  • RF PCB Design, MMIC Design, and Circuits operating over multi octave bandwidths.
  • Model driven engineering using Matlab and Simulink, and Automating test equipment using Labview.

Security Clearance:

Experience within the defence industry is highly desirable, and a Security Clearance may be required for this role.
