Leonardo is seeking talented Microwave Engineers to contribute to cutting-edge self-protection systems for a range of platforms, including fast jets, UAVs, and naval vessels.

We offer multiple openings across various experience levels, with potential for remote work arrangements.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with leading experts in the field to design innovative microwave solutions exceeding 20GHz, contributing to complex electronic systems that meet demanding customer requirements.
  • Engage in a diverse range of tasks, from design and technical problem-solving to product development. This role may involve travel within the UK or internationally for technical assessments.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in design techniques using industry-standard tools such as Keysight ADS, Microwave Office, CST Microwave Studio, Ansoft HFSS, or Siemens EDA Mentor.
  • Experience with physical layouts of RF and Microwave circuits.
  • Ability to derive and report design requirements effectively.
  • Structured approach to electronic design principles.
  • Familiarity with RF test methods and equipment, including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and RF Sources.
  • Capability to troubleshoot faulty hardware or test equipment.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support in mentoring early-career engineers.
Qualifications
  • Background in the defense industry is highly desirable.
  • HNC/HND or Undergraduate Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of RF Synthesizers utilizing DDS or PLL technologies.
  • Experience with RF conditioning chains, e.g., Frequency Converters.
  • Proficiency in designing passive microwave structures such as Filters.
  • Expertise in High Power Amplifiers and Switches design.
  • Understanding of low phase noise design and measurement principles.
  • Familiarity with RF Chain Analysis and RF PCB Design.
  • Competence in MMIC Design and circuits operating over multi-octave bandwidths.
  • Proficiency in model-driven engineering with Matlab and Simulink.
  • Ability to automate test equipment using Labview.
