About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Manager Team Lead to join our Grocery Team. Reporting to the Director of Trading, this role will be based in our Wellingborough office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a high-performing category team, utilizing effective leadership, communication, and engagement to drive the growth of our Own Brand business.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement category plans to ensure delivery of sales, margin, and profit targets while maintaining product availability.
  • Lead the category team, manage performance, and encourage team development, supporting the company's 'Making Everyone Welcome' and 'A Place to Get On' initiatives.
  • Grow the Own Brand business by sourcing opportunities to increase sales and margins.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive terms and provide coaching to the team as needed.
  • Act on customer feedback to shape the category plan, linking it to the sales plan and customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to our Business Code of Conduct and uphold integrity and due diligence, championing diversity and inclusion.
Requirements
  • Operational skills relevant to the role, including exceptional communication and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and make commercial decisions.
  • Attention to detail, report writing, data interpretation, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Previous experience in category management.
