Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Neurophysiology Consultant to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have expertise in providing a comprehensive range of diagnostic studies, including nerve conduction studies and electromyography.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with neurological, neurosurgical, and orthopaedic consultants to provide a cross-specialty diagnostic service to in- and out-patients.

The department holds UKAS accreditation for IQIPS, and the successful candidate will be required to support delivery of this.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide a full range of nerve conduction studies and electromyography services.
  2. Report on EEG of all modalities and on physiologist-led nerve conduction clinics.
  3. Support the development of a culture of continuous improvement.
  4. Contribute to the discussion on the future development of clinical neurophysiology.

The department is involved in various research activities with other specialities.

Person Specification
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Clinical Neurophysiology at time of interview.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development including CME.
