This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team as a Band 7 Clinical Trials Pharmacist.
The successful candidate will be a member of both pharmacy clinical trials and R&D teams at Hampshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, working closely with both teams to ensure the smooth running of clinical trials delivered at HHFT.
The role involves project management, meeting deadlines, and creating and maintaining bespoke pharmacy-specific documentation for each trial. This requires reviewing sponsor documents, collaborating with sponsors, contract research organisations (CROs), and research teams, with a high level of attention to detail to meet sponsor and good clinical practice (GCP) requirements.
The successful candidate will be provided with the support of a well-established team, opportunities to develop and improve their career, and make a difference to patients' lives.
Main duties of the job- Participate in all aspects of Pharmacy Clinical Trial from setup to close down, including feasibility review, presenting costings to sponsors, setting up and updating study documents, processing amendments, and addressing challenges to ensure progression of trials, maintaining patient safety and data integrity.
- Provide updates on pharmaceutical aspects of trials to ensure alignment with project goals, accuracy check dispensed IMPs as required, coordinate and deliver Pharmacy support to Researchers at HHFT, and work with the dedicated Clinical Trial Team to plan workload for Pharmacy Services for the Trust and ensure operational implementation.
- Ensure that Pharmacy procedures relating to clinical trials involving (IMPs) are in accordance with existing regulations and with Research Governance Framework, provide highly specialised professional expertise to Researchers in the development of clinical trial protocols involving medication and related substances, and provide advice & information regarding the application for Clinical Trial Authorisation certification from the MHRA.
- Support other members of the clinical trial pharmacy and R&D teams, participate in any 7-day shift pattern as required by the service, and deputise for Lead Pharmacist when required.
- M.Pharm or equivalent (4 years)
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Society
- Post graduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
- Evidence of continuous professional practice and education, clearly recorded in current professional profile
- Diploma / M.Sc. in Clinical Pharmacy
- Education Supervisor / Train the trainer or equivalent
- Specialist higher degree (Masters) in Technical Services or working towards
- Experience of working in an Aseptics Unit
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and Quality Control / Quality Assurance
- Experience of managing individuals or a team within pharmacy
- Significant post-registration hospital pharmacy experience
- Knowledge of national initiatives and guidelines e.g. NICE, NSF
- Ability to lead and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport with colleagues at all levels
- Good computer and keyboard skills
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated
