About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Nurse to join our Hepatitis C and Liver Team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and manage a cohort of patients with viral hepatitis and liver disease, working within established protocols.
  • Develop and maintain clinical expertise, delivering high standards of care to meet the needs of patients, their carers, and significant others.
  • Work in outreach services, including prison health, providing blood-borne virus testing services as required.
  • Collaborate with ID and Hepatology teams in the management of chronic disease.
  • Attend and participate in the Hepatitis Nurse Forum and ID/Liver meetings.
  • Follow training protocols to refer patients with viral hepatitis through the Nurse-led clinic.
  • Develop and use clinical judgment to refer directly to medical staff, in line with department guidelines.
  • Liaise and exchange relevant information about patients with other hospital departments, adhering to statutory regulations.
  • Deliver presentations to disseminate good practice.
Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife
  • Post-basic specialist qualification relevant to the specialty
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Desirable: Recordable specialist qualification, Independent Nurse Prescribing, ECDL
  • Essential: Post-registration experience, extensive clinical experience, involvement in audit
  • Desirable: Participation in research, evidence of leading and facilitating change
  • Essential: In-depth specialist knowledge, teaching/assessment skills, organisation and negotiation skills, effective communication, root cause analysis, leadership and motivation skills, ability to motivate self and others, evidence of audit and change management ability, computer literacy, ability to work independently and within a team
  • Essential: Diplomatic, assertive and confident, recognition of own limitations, able to travel between sites, flexibility
