About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dispensary Assistant to join our team at Lakeside Healthcare Group. As a Dispensary Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dispensary, providing excellent patient care and support to our patients and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Issue repeat medication requests for the dispensary and local pharmacies on behalf of patients.
  • Action online repeat prescription requests and use dispensary task boxes appropriately.
  • Ensure the dispensary team has prescription telephone lines covered 10am-3pm.
  • Answer prescription queries and issue prescriptions.
  • Raise appliance prescriptions according to community nursing team requests.
  • Issue prescriptions for care homes, ensuring they are sent to the relevant GP for signing and the correct pharmacy for delivery.
  • Sort appliances for collection/delivery and relevant paperwork.
  • Transfer medication to patients at the window/counter as per SOP.
  • Collect due prescription charges and ensure patient declaration on FP10 is filled in and signed.
  • Ensure all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately stored and a record kept of all financial transactions.
  • Deal with prescription queries from patients and pharmacies at the window/counter.
  • Put away dispensed parcels on shelves and file prescriptions for collection.
  • Put dispensed parcels for delivery away in cupboards and ensure labels are correct.
  • Promptly forward invoices and dispensary-related correspondence to the finance manager or dispensary manager according to practice policy.
  • Ensure shelves and work surfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain a high level of hygiene within the dispensary.
  • Accept pharmaceutical deliveries for the dispensary and ensure relevant paperwork is completed and handed to the driver.
  • Ensure refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and maintain a temperature control record/logbook.
  • Undertake any necessary work to maintain a high standard and efficient dispensing service.
  • Undertake any necessary training as required, including Blue Stream Academy.
  • Ensure all processes are followed as per Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths Grade A-C or equivalent.
  • Articulate excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Confident telephone manner.
