About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for co-ordinating meaningful activity for the older population resident in HMP Ashfield, providing high-quality support, advice, and intervention to ensure the needs of these men are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver services that promote positive health and wellbeing.
  • Identify and develop activities to support older prisoners in reducing re-offending.
  • Develop and promote a timetable of events across the prison.
  • Engage with other departments to draw on additional support.
  • Collect and analyse monitoring and evaluation information.
  • Carry out other duties as required by the Service Manager/Buddy Lead.
  • Work within the contract, policies, procedures, and budgets set by the Management Team and Board.
  • Provide person-centred and strength-based activities that reflect the rights, preferences, and choices of individuals.
  • Ensure accurate and complete records are maintained.
  • Deliver and collate key performance indicators (KPIs) as agreed with the Service Manager/Buddy Lead.
  • Carry out day-to-day tasks in accordance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Provide a safe and healthy environment, observing agreed safeguarding practices.
  • Support referrals into and out of the service with colleagues and volunteers.
  • Identify and source community agencies and guest speakers to provide information and support.
  • Work collaboratively with the Service Manager/Buddy Lead to develop services and effective team working.
Requirements
  • Educated to at least A-level, DipSW, or NVQ level 3.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Teaching or training qualifications (hold or willing to work towards PTTLs).
  • 24 months' experience working with older people, individuals in the Criminal Justice system, or social care settings.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with IT skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience arranging and developing group activities, workshops, and one-to-one sessions.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of current diversity issues and high levels of political awareness and sensitivity.
What We Offer

This is a part-time, permanent position, working 26.25 hours per week, with a salary of £25,623 pro-rata.

The role is subject to a DBS check at the relevant level.
