AWE is a leading nuclear weapons research and development organization, providing counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction solutions to the UK government. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Pulsed Power teams.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a unique scientific research team that underpins the safety and performance of our defense programs. As a Senior Pulsed Power Research Scientist/Engineer, you will have the chance to lead the design, construction, and commissioning of high-pulsed power systems, develop collaborative programs with academia, industry, and government laboratories, and provide technical leadership of projects from concept to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, construction, and commissioning of high-pulsed power systems
  • Develop collaborative programs with academia, industry, and government laboratories
  • Provide technical leadership of projects from concept to commissioning
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex technical challenges
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget

Requirements:

  • PhD in Physics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Proven track record of delivering projects with pulsed power, radiofrequency technologies, electron beam control, and high-voltage design
  • Experience in leading technical projects and/or task management
  • Experience in planning and safely executing hazardous experimentation trials
  • Understanding of power distribution, including power network modeling and analysis
