About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our Integrated Mental Health and Substance Misuse Team at HMP Isle of Wight. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to individuals in custody, working collaboratively with other professionals to deliver a comprehensive and dynamic service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based interventions and manage a caseload, undertaking assessments and reviews as required.
  • Work effectively within the team to deliver care and interventions utilising the stepped care model, including provision of the CPA Framework where appropriate.
  • Assess individuals' needs to develop, implement, and evaluate personalised care plans.
  • Facilitate therapeutic group work, taking the lead where appropriate.
  • Deliver evidenced-based interventions and identify individuals requiring hospital treatment, facilitating timely transfer under The Mental Health Act.
  • Line manage a Band 5 nurse where appropriate.

Person Specification

  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register.
  • Evidence of recent CPD and compliance with NMC revalidation.
  • Teaching Certificate including annual update (ENB 603) or related mentoring/coaching qualification.
  • Considerable experience of working in the mental health field.
  • Experience of providing specialist interventions for those with mental health problems, counselling techniques, CBT, motivational interviewing.
  • Providing supervision and line management of staff.
