The NHS Professionals is seeking a highly skilled Sterile Services Technician to join our team at Ipswich Hospital. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires the safe handling of medical devices, preparation and sterilization of surgical instruments, and quality assurance processes.

About the Role

This role is part of our Sterile Services department, which is critical to the hospital's operations. As a Sterile Services Technician, you will be responsible for the decontamination of medical devices, ensuring they are safe for use in surgery and patient care. Your duties will include:

  • Collecting and handling potentially infected instrumentation prior to decontamination.
  • Preparing, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instruments and soft packs to operating theatres and other hospital departments.
  • Inspecting all sterile packages for integrity once the load has cooled sufficiently and returning any compromised packages to be re-packaged and re-autoclaved.

Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will ensure that medical devices are safely prepared for use, contributing to excellent patient outcomes. We are looking for an individual who can work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
