About the Role

The HR Business Partner is a key member of the Biffa team, responsible for providing strategic HR advice to senior operational stakeholders and implementing the divisional HR and balanced business plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational HR advice to the divisional Senior Leadership Team and their Regional Management teams, attending senior leadership meetings and operations meetings as required.
  • Support in the delivery of large-scale organizational change initiatives and manage local consultation exercises (e.g., restructuring, pay negotiations, organizational development).
  • Provide employee and industrial relations support, with a focus on trade union engagement, high-level grievances, and disciplinaries, as well as other employment law-related situations.
  • Support regional management teams in implementing key employee relations projects and activities.
  • Work with operational teams to develop succession plans and drive the development of management teams.
  • Promote and drive the employee engagement agenda, particularly by assisting with the completion and execution of engagement plans.
  • Develop and coach line managers to ensure effective people management, mitigating risks associated with ER activities.
  • Implement the Divisional HR Strategy and the Division's Balanced Business Plan (BBP).
  • Lead and support people analytics to deliver insights to improve management decision-making.
  • Play a key role in leading organizational change and development, ensuring impacts are managed appropriately.

Requirements

  • CIPD qualified Level 5
  • Experience in delivering projects within a trade unionized environment, including restructuring programs, organizational change, and TUPE/acquisition activities.
  • Ability to support senior managers in dealing with local and regional Trade Union representatives with local pay negotiations and other trade union activities.
  • A strong understanding of performance management, talent management, and succession planning.
