We are seeking a highly skilled Project Lead to join our team in Workington Mill.

A new position has arisen in the Projects Department for a Project Engineer reporting to the Project Team Manager. The successful candidate will develop, execute, and lead projects where required.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing investment projects from pre-study to implementation
  • Participating in investment projects led by others, from pre-study to implementation
  • Supporting and contributing technical skills (E/I, Automation or Mechanical discipline) in project teams
  • Delivering projects on budget, on time, and functioning in line with specification
  • Managing and leading contractors/consultants and coordinating resources on ongoing joint projects
  • Producing clear and accurate specifications including agreed company engineering standards for the procurement and installation of equipment, in contractual form where necessary
  • Arranging for equipment numbers to be provided and preventive maintenance schedules to be introduced for new equipment
  • Procuring and integrating adequate spare parts inventory and documentation to support new equipment introduced into the mill
  • Providing information to enable training for operators, supervisors, technicians, and craft personnel

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A minimum qualification of HNC in the appropriate discipline, with a preference for a degree
  • Experience of leading and managing projects
  • Appropriate training in Health & Safety (IOSH Managing Safely)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ideal experience in the paper and board industry or another heavy engineering/process industry
