Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neurology Nurse Specialist to join our specialist team at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with a highly skilled and experienced team, delivering high-quality and safe services to patients throughout the Cheshire and Merseyside region, with involvement in services delivered in North Wales.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert professional advice, guidance, and support to patients, carers, and relevant professionals.
  • Being a point of contact to provide expert medication management for MS patients.
  • Contributing towards the continuity of patient care in the outpatient department at The Walton Centre, inpatient and outpatient settings in our satellite centres, and in the patients' home in the community.
  • Working autonomously by utilising advanced health assessment and examination, decision-making, and diagnostic reasoning.
  • Undertaking telephone advice clinics.
  • Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, integrating with all relevant specialties and personnel.
  • Establishing patient and carer interventions and developing services to meet their needs in close conjunction with the Lead Consultant.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Current NMC Registration.
  • A 1st-level Degree relevant to clinical specialty.
  • Willingness and ability to work towards masters-level qualification and Non-medical prescribing.
  • Willingness to complete a Development module in Multiple Sclerosis.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Post-basic qualification in leadership and/or management.
  • Teaching qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience within MS.
  • Portfolio to show evidence and experience in Neurological Long-Term Conditions.
