Housing Benefits Officer

Spelthorne Borough Council is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Housing Benefits team as a Housing Benefits Assistant.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a motivated and organized individual to assist with the processing of housing benefit claims, providing excellent customer service and support to our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Checking incoming claims for completeness and accuracy
- Dealing with customer queries at the enquiry desk and over the telephone
- Scanning and indexing documents
- Providing excellent customer service and support to our residents
- Working as part of a small pre-assessment team to achieve team goals and objectives
Requirements:
- Previous benefit experience would be an advantage, although training will be given
- Excellent communication and customer care skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
- Computer literate with the ability to use two computer systems at the same time
- Ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English
