Job Description

The Restorative Justice Practitioner position offers an exciting opportunity for a reliable, organised, compassionate person with experience of working within the criminal justice sector and preferably within prisons. The successful candidate will deliver restorative justice interventions as part of this programme and assist in ensuring the project's effective day-to-day operation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Publicise the restorative justice service and its potential benefits to prisoners and prison staff via outreach work on prison wings and presentations/briefings to prison staff.
  2. Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, including safer custody, interdepartmental risk management, reducing reoffending.
  3. Co-deliver restorative justice training and provide support for prisoners and prison staff members to become skilled restorative justice facilitators.
  4. Facilitate restorative interventions as appropriate in accordance with the Restorative Justice Council's Best Practice Guidance and Belong/HMPPS policies.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders relating to this project.
  6. Aware of the issues faced by adult men serving prison sentences.
  7. Ability to build and maintain relationships with voluntary sector organisations, prison teams, local police teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • At least two years' experience in building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
  • Awareness of adult male prisoners' issues.
  • Excellent communication skills.
