Cummins Inc. is a global leader in power generation and propulsion solutions, and we're looking for a talented Placement Student to join our team in Battery Pack Design. As a Placement Student, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience in designing and developing battery packs for our innovative products.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our product development team to design and develop battery packs that meet our high standards for performance, safety, and reliability.
- Develop a deep understanding of fundamental structural design principles and product development cycles.
- Use CAD systems to design components and meet technical requirements, with a focus on low-cost, design for manufacture, and assembly.
- Document design principles and coordinate basic analysis on designs, including vibration, crash, thermal loading, and mechanical shock.
- Gain insight into the product design and development process in the battery electric industry and participate in component testing, system-level validation, and prototype builds.
- Develop first-hand experience in concept-to-detail design and proactively identify potential failure modes using engineering toolsets and determine how to mitigate them through optimal design.
Requirements:
- Currently studying for a technical degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Design, or Thermal Design Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong interest in electrification and Li-ion batteries.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, presentation, CAD systems, and report writing.
- Willingness to challenge the norm and continuously seek improvements.
