Cummins Inc. is a global leader in power generation and electrification, and we're looking for a talented Placement Student to join our team in Battery Pack Design. As a Placement Student, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience in designing and developing battery packs for our electric vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with our product development team to design and develop battery packs that meet our technical requirements.
  2. Develop an understanding of fundamental structural design and product development cycles.
  3. Design components using CAD systems, focusing on low-cost, design for manufacture, and assembly.
  4. Document design principles and coordinate basic analysis on those designs.
  5. Gain insight into the product design and development of battery electric industry through component testing, system-level validation, and prototype builds.
  6. First-hand experience of concept through to detail design and proactively identifying potential failure modes via engineering toolsets.

Requirements:

  1. Studying for a technical degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Design, or Electrical Engineering.
  2. Keen interest in electrification and Li-ion batteries.
  3. Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, presentation, CAD systems, and report writing.
  4. A willingness to challenge the norm and constantly look for improvements.
