Our client, a leading UK-based consultancy specialising in Civil and Structural Engineering, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Drainage Engineer to lead their team in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in Engineering, including a BSc and MSc in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering, and be working towards chartered status. They will also have extensive experience in detailed drainage design using Infodrainage, Microdrainage, or Causeway Flow, as well as experience in mentoring team members and completing Flood Risk Assessments and rainwater garden design.

The successful candidate will join a new team based in central Birmingham, near the train station, and will be responsible for assisting with the growth of the team, managing projects, and managing team members. They will have the opportunity to work on varied residential, commercial, and industrial projects, including hospitals, schools, and holiday parks. As a Principal Engineer, they will be required to complete a range of tasks, including:

  • Varied projects spanning residential, commercial, and industrial development projects
  • Detailed SuDS designs using Microdrainage, Infodrainage, and Flow
  • Surface Water Management Plans
  • Access road design for residential developments
  • Flood Risk Assessments
  • Flood Alleviation Schemes
  • Mentor Team Members and manage projects
  • Frequent liaison with Private Sector Clients, Housing Developers, and Business Associates to develop business opportunities
